PROJECTIL PROPULSION BY ELECTROMAGNETIC FORCE
The paper presents experiments using a laboratory model at small scale for a “coil gun” type projectile launcher. Electromagnetic acceleration of a mobile fitting by a coil (stator) travelled by an electric current is a phenomenon known in the 18th century and knows many applications of this phenomenon. Explanation refers to what passes through the stator currents and armour as well as mutual inductance variation of these. Inductance mutual values are found by means of approximation.

In this paper we analyze the effect of temperature upon the natural frequencies of truss elements. Temperature changes influence the Young’s modulus in the sense that it decreases with increasing temperature, consequently structural elements frequencies decrease. However, we demonstrate in this paper that the frequency changes due to temperature in natural environment are very small and do not dramatically influence the structures dynamic behavior.

26-36 INVESTIGAREA NON-INVAZIVĂ A ZGOMOTULUI PROFESIONAL ASUPRA LUCRĂTORILOR

NON-INVASIVE INVESTIGATION OF PROFESSIONAL
NOISE OVER THE WORKERS
Ther paper introduces a new investigation method for the noise action
over the worker in the industrial field. This method consists in the ECG
evaluation of the workers that are inside the industrial space during the
professional activity. The paper presents an experimental study of the noise
action on a sample of workers of different ages. They work in an industrial
workers space with 8 different machine tools, 8 hours per day, 5 days per
week. The paper looks to establish the impairment of workers’ occupational
noise. All of them were made in the morning, and at the end of the work each
day. Comparing the results of ECG measurements, pre and post exposure to
sound level above 80 dB, may establish the risk of cardiac disease in different
form of it.

EFFECT OF Gd3+: Ag CODOPING ON
THE GLASSES AND VITROCERAMICS OF THE
(1-x-y)[Bi2O3∙PbO]∙xAg2O∙yGd2O3 SYSTEM
Bismuth lead glasses coped with Gd3+: Ag were prepared by the
conventional melt – quenching method. The structure of these materials was
studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and FTIR spectroscopy. FTIR spectroscopy
data show that BiO3, BiO6, PbO3 and PbO4 are the most important structural
units in the studied system. These data also made it possible to obtain essential
information concerning the arrangement of the structural units in the studied
glasses and glass ceramics. XRD diffraction shows the presence of δ Bi2O3 and
PbO1.44 crystalline phases.

IMOBILIZATION OF THE RADIOACTIVE WASTES
IN VITREOUS SYSTEMS ON THE BASED OF LEAD
Immobilization of radioactive wastes by the vitrification method is a
well-established process that was selected because glass is highly stable, very
durable and has the ability to incorporate a wide variety of chemical
contaminants. In this work, we propose a study of the structural and behaviour
properties of lead glasses with xGd2O3∙(100-x)[4PbO2∙Pb] composition where
x=0-50%mol Gd2O3 in view of the possible applications as alternative of
immobilization of the radioactive wastes.
One of the most important requirements for the technology used in the
immobilization of nuclear wastes is to include as much as possible waste per
unit mass of the host vitreous matrix. We were synthesized the gadolinium-lead
glasses up to 50% mole Gd2O3. EPR data suggest that the gadolinium ions at
high contents have a behaviour of network former and not network modifier.

26-27 NOI TIPURI DE STICLE CA POTENŢIALI SENZORI PENTRU DETERMINAREA NITRAŢILOR DIN APĂ

NEW TYPES OF GLASS AS POTENTIAL SENSORS TO
DETERMINE THE NITRATES ANIONS
FROM WATER
In this paper is presented a new type of glass that can be used as
potential electrochemical sensor for nitrate anions from aqueous solutions. The
glass sample obtained was analysed by FT-IR and UV-VIS spectroscopy and
cyclic voltammetry (VC). The cyclic voltammetry shows that the current
increase with the increasing of concentration of sodium nitrate from aqueous
solutions. The FT-IR spectrum after VC shows a decreasing of [PbO6] structural
units from the glass, probably increasing in this way the number of free lead
ions (Pb+2) and improving the electrochemical properties of the glass sample.
The decrease in the intensity of the UV-VIS absorption bands after VC shows
that a part of Fe+3 ions convert to Fe+2 ions and pass into solution.

26-26 RECICLAREA DEŞEURILOR PROVENITE DE LA BATERIILE AUTO ÎN STICLE PE BAZĂ DE PLUMB

THE RECICLYNG OF THE WASTES PROVIDED
OF AUTO BATTERIES IN LEAD GLASSES
The purpose of this paper was i) to obtained the lead glasses with the
xPb∙(100-x)PbO2 composition where x = 0-15mol % Pb by melt quenching
method and ii) to characterized of the structural and optical properties of the
obtained glasses by investigations of FTIR and UV-VIS spectroscopy in order
to possible applications in the auto battery recycling.
FTIR data show that the accommodation of the host glass with excess
of metallic lead was possible by the conversion of some [PbO6] octahedral
structural units into [PbOn] structural units where n=3 and 4. Then, the increase
of the metallic lead high content in the matrix network will produce to the
deficiency of non-bridging oxygen’s and the formation of UV-VIS bands in
region centred at about 300nm which can be attributed to the electronic
transitions of the lead ions.

built environment. It is necessary to intensify studies and researches aimed, on
the one hand, optimizing \/lowering electricity consumption, and on the other

the bioelectro-chemical processes of nature and the corrosion reactions in

Fire is a phenomenon that leaves, even today, a lot of questions
unanswered. The fire fighting actions currently involve many procedures and
products to increase efficiency. Additives are used nowadays, worldwide,
because they represent an alternative for preserving our resources. The result
of researches made in foreign countries, and also in Romania in the early ’80, is
a strong argument for keep trying to use additives in fire fighting.

THE CURRENT STATE IN THE FIELD OF ENERGY
EFFICIENCY IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA
The increase in the cost of energy resources, the advanced
depreciation of the buildings, the degradation of the environmental quality and
the Moldova’s total dependence on the external energy markets, are essentially
the key arguments which require the promotion of some consistent national
policies in the field of energy efficiency in all spheres of human activity. In this
context one area over which it can act with certainty is the field of buildings. The
analysis of housing in Moldova built at different stages under different
architectural and structural solutions, the evolution of energy usage and energy
resources for various sectors of the national economy, as well as the objectives
put forward by the national strategies and programs for energy efficiency are
presented in the paper.

DIGESTION PLANT
In the latest years the problem of odour emissions has got an
increasing emphasis, due to the expansion of urban areas with the consequent
approach of the settlements to the industrial areas and the increase of public
awareness towards environmental issues. Odours do not cause toxic effects to
human health. However they can cause symptoms in both physiological (as
respiratory problems, nausea and headaches) and psychological levels. In this
article, the results of odour monitoring emissions in an anaerobic digestion
plant fed with dedicated crops in which there is a feeding/mixing tank
uncovered are presented. The role of this tank concerning the odour emissions
is the object of the paper.

La măsurarea temperaturii cu termocupluri, o cauză de erori poate fi
schimbarea temperaturii de referință a acestora. În prezenta comunicare se
analizează diagrame care permit citirea directă a corecțiilor la variația
temperaturii de referință, cu un exemplu concret pentru termocuplul NiCr-Ni.
Bei Temperaturmessung mit Thermoelementen, eine Fehlerursache
der Vergleichstemperaturänderung ist möglich. Innerhalb dieses Aufsatzes
wurden Diagramme entwickelt die ein direcktes Ablesen der Korrektionen bei
Schwanken der Vergleichstemperatur ermöglichen, mit einem konkreten
Beispiel für ein NiCr-Ni Thermoelement.

26-2 ANALIZA LEGISLAŢIEI CU PRIVIRE LA COMBUSTIA LEMNULUI TRATAT

TREATED WOOD COMBUSTION REGULATION ANALYSIS
In the latest years the European Union has started a review of the
regulations about the combustion of the woody biomass, a resource
widely available on the Earth with neutral impact in increasing
greenhouse gas emissions. Firstly, an overview of the legal situation at
global level is presented, and then a detailed explanation of the Italian
regulation is the core of this article. Basically, in 2006 the introduction of
the Legislative Decree n. 152 has established that virgin wood falls in
the category of fuels, instead treated wood (deriving from woodfurniture
industry rejects) is considered as waste: the consequence is
that its combustion is subjected to more stringent restrictions in term of
process monitoring and emission limit values. Finally, this paper wants
to underline that the legislative framework is not completely clear, so
not homogeneous interpretations by local governments (responsible for
authorisations) are possible.

MONITORING FOR A STEEL MAKING PLANT
PCDD/F emissions from steel making plants are characterised by
conveyed and diffused streams. As a consequence, the conventional approach
based on the control of emissions at the stack could not be sufficient to
guarantee an adequate environmental protection. The present paper focuses
on the results of a recent multi-disciplinary study on a steel making plant
located in the North of Italy in order to point out some control criteria based on
unconventional monitoring. In particular, the role of deposimeters and soil
characterisation is discussed in details.

The authors of the contribution presents several possible solutions
destined to improving the load bearing capacity of the steel structural elements.
In this sense, are described some existent solutions, respectively two other
originals, ones. Every solution is analyzed from their usefulness’ point of view,
respectively their limits. The original solutions/proposals seem to fulfil several
major fire safety criteria, mainly to increase the safe period of the structural
elements. The authors intend applying one of them in a forthcoming PhD
thesis experimental part.

BEARING BALLS
The bearing balls with the 12.7 mm diameter equipping radial bearings
were tested for the fatigue endurance stress. The test was performed on a
specialised machine, which creates a constant force during testing, at a number
of revolutions that is also constant. By weighing and dimensional
measurements we find a mass loss after the fatigue test, and implicitly the
diameter became smaller due to wear and tear.

During the fatigue testing of bearing balls, subjected to compression at
constant force and number of revolutions, we find, from the technological point
of view, certain micron-sized alterations in relation with the dimensions and
quality of the tested balls’ surface. The main parameters refer to the ball
diameter [mm] and the number of revolutions affected by the machine during
testing [number of revolutions]. The contact during testing is sphere to plane.

In order to determine the lifetime of bearing balls we need to proceed
to their fatigue test. The machine for fatigue testing has a special construction,
with several spaces for simultaneous tests. The contact between the ball to test
and the plate is plane. During the test, the machine’s number of revolutions and
the loading force are constant. An important parameter during testing is
represented by the environment conditions (with or without lubrication).

SOLIDIFICATION STUDIES T JUNCTIONS, WALLS CASTINGS
This paper aims to make a numerical and experimental analysis of the
succession of solidification zones of T-shaped intersection walls of cast
aluminium alloys. The idea of this study started with the observation that these
areas solidification thru dedicated method of cooling modules analysis does not
fully correspond to numerical analysis using a simulation solidification program.
By using the simulation software NovaCast it was studied the succession of
solidification process of T – shaped intersection of the walls of aluminium alloy
castings En AC-Al Si7Mg0,3 in several versions of ratio between the two
intersecting walls. Subsequently were made casts of this form examining their
solidification by determining the compactness of intersection and surrounding
areas. In interpreting the results obtained it can be concluded that the T-shaped
intersection of two walls, in most cases, doesn’t act as a heat node, as it would
be presumed at first glance.

BEHAVIOR USING ANSYS SIMULATION SOFTWARE
Although the total number of parts that break during service is not
great, however over 50 % of the breaks are caused by fatigue cracking or
corrosion fatigue, and so is of a great importance the knowledge and mastery
of this phenomenon.
This study discusses the fatigue behaviour of the wires, making a
comparison of results obtained on galvanized wire specimens and on
ungalvanized wire specimens, using Ansys analysis program.

HISTORICO-CRITICAL REVIEW OF DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS
On the base of numerous literatures a critical review of main facts and
events that played a significant role in the history of dimensional analysis will be
presented. Dimensional analysis appeared in the antiques with the necessity to
qualitatively describe and understand the physical world and was fructuously
developed in the works of Galileo Galilei, Pierre-Marie-François Daviet de
Foncenex, Jean Baptiste Joseph Fourier and John William Strutt. Application of
dimensional analysis on a large scale began after 1914, when Edgar
Buckingham demonstrated his Π− theorem and Percy W. Bridgman published
his „Dimensional analysis” in 1922.
