THE PREVENTION OF THE OCCUPATIONAL RISKS
ON THE APPROACH OF ERGONOMICS AND SAFETY
AND HEALTH AT WORK
Taking into account the prevention principles settled by the Framework
Directive 89/391/EEC on health and safety at work, in the context of the new
emerging risks, particularly of musculoskeletal disorders and mental illnesses,
the role of ergonomics in the design of workplaces is growing, contributing of
the improvement of the welfare at work. Ergonomics aims at adapting the work
to humans. The concept of proactive ergonomics deals with the need to adopt
measures to prevent occupational risks still in design stage. The classic
approach of the risk prevention must be updated by an ergonomic one having
in view the need to avoid the workplace accidents and occupational diseases.
