Study of the influence of manufature and operational factors upon the quality of engine start, combustion and emissions generation of 1.7 CDI engine from MERCEDES VANEO
The present paper makes a theoretical and applied study of the components and entire engine starting and preheating system from diesel 1.7 CDI Mercedes Vaneo engine in relation with glow plugs, air filter, engine behaviour and smoke particles generation, in various cold-starting conditions and procedures, with diagnosis equipment connected to the electric and electronic management system. There is pointed out the preheating system for diesel engine with special glow plugs for air temperature increase before the fuel injection supply in the combustion chamber. These aspects have a significant influence upon the pollutant emissions production and development. Lowering the pre-combustion temperatures in the cylinder negatively influences the compression ignition process by dissipating the heat level. The opportunity for studying the pre-heating system of the Vaneo engine comes from the frequency of such a malfunction in compression ignited engines during winter cold-start.
