ELECTRONIC SAFETY-RELATED NATIONAL
AND INTERNATIONAL STANDARDIZATION
This article aims to help the designers, users, and certification bodies
of electrical/electronic/programmable electronic safety-related systems to
understand the origins and principals of functional safety identify the standards
available for guidance and give practical advice on designing, applying,
verifying and validating a “functional” safety related control system to
machinery. It is based on SR EN 61508, series of standards.
