teacher, engineer, academician Dorin Paul is an act of courage for a speaker
who pressed for time, you cannot say what it would have said!
In these times you play Dorin Paul in another aspect, perhaps more
important than all those mentioned so far, creator of values them as human
science and teacher of many generations of engineers.

TO FOLLOW EXAMPLE
Vision and interdisciplinary are two essential characteristics drawn from the works of Paul Dorin and empowering solutions that treats its data hydroelectricity projects and electrification, electric traction and construction of dams, regulation of rivers are examples of the approach, basing solutions, sustainability their time and efficiency, synergy of different specialties called to participate in their realization. His vision in the development of projects anticipation explain technical solutions given by Dorin Paul and topical (dams, design principles, equipment) as well as some trends that will appear later in energy policies (diversification of energy resources and their complementarity, storage plants).

Interdisciplinary is a dominant feature common in the projects of Dorin
Pavel, whether they related to his base area, hydrology, or to the associated
equipment designed buildings, electrical applications, construction of bridges
and roads.
It presents some significant elements and their contributions in making
some Romanian firsts.

A LESSER-KNOWN WORK OF DORIN PAVEL:
STUDY OF ELECTRIFICATION
This paper presents a „study electrification” made by Prof Dr Doc
Dorin Pavel since 1925, in which it addresses the problem of ensuring
electricity for railways in Romania if their electrification.
Technical problems are analyzed both electrical traction suggesting
solutions and investment cost.
News of those published 88 years ago, is found in the development of
electrified railway lines in Romania, the database solutions for electric drive
(alternating current at 50 Hz and High Tension) and the locations of plants.

FOR THE YOUNGER GENERATION ?
Today we are living a period of great transformation in the search and
find many truths, in weighing the value of money and material advantages tilt
the pan, we need models and Dorin Pavel may be one of them.
Most of us remember with respect, was not only a scientist but a
daring, proving that in his specialty had the vision and strength to show that
hard things can be accessible for a small country. He said in his memoirs with
some shadow of regret „that he was born a quarter century earlier.”
