The paper focuses on presenting the Strength of Materials Laboratory
at its 40th anniversary. This lab has significantly contributed to the practical
training of the students, nevertheless playing an important part in performing
mechanical and technological experiments for Bachelor, Masters and PhD
topics as well as for various research grants.

THE SAFETY IN EXPLOITING METALLIC

The paper analyses the safety in exploiting metallic constructions. In
order to verify the limit conditions, corrections were introduce by using some
dimensionless numerical coefficients, determined for each analyzed limit
condition, which will cover unfavorable influences of different factors.

The paper presents correlations between mechanical characteristics
and the main alloying elements of steel 90VMoCr15 brand; this will get varying
characteristics Rp0, 2, Rm, A5 and Z, respectively breaking energy, depending
on content in steel of Cr and respectively C.
