This paper presents the importance and perspective of hydrogen as an
energy carrier, now when hydrogen fuel cells can be an option for reducing the
emissions from the transportation sector. It is also described the operating
mode of a hydrogen fuel cell and most importantly, there are emphasized the
recent achievements regarding the key candidate materials for hydrogen
storage, which is an essential factor in the commercialization of hydrogen fuel
cell vehicles.

In this paper we underline the need and the opportunity to use wind
energy due to the competitive cost of this type of energy and due to the
reduction of pollution. We also present the current situation on a global level of
the wind energy market as well as the development of this branch in Romania.
