POLICING VERSUS POLICE OFFICERS HEALTH AND
SAFETY RISKS
Police officers are expected to face significant dangers as part of their
job. The dynamics of policing as an occupation creates the conditions for them
to experience many hazards. This paper aims to identifie key risk factors of
police work, based on a comprehensive international literature review of police
occupational health and safety, and to recognize some possible solutions to
prevent the risks without breaking the balance between the operational and the
health and safety duties.
