GEAR MESH QUALITY VERIFICATION TECHNOLOGY

OF WORM-FACE GEAR DRIVES WITH LOCALIZED CONTACT

 

Current paper refers generally to the mesh quality verification technology of worm-face gear drives with localized contact, specifically investigating gear drives kinematic precission, as well as teeth contact pattern, as practical methods of evaluation of their quality in exploitation. Experimental results, related to this technology are illustrated through  practical examples, for some particular gear drives, subject of this investigation.

SIMULATION OF LOAD STRESS DISTRIBUTION IN WORM-FACE GEAR DRIVE WITH LOCALIZED CONTACT USING CATIA-GPS APPLICATION
Using a finite element method module, available within CATIA CAD application, the paper presents a practical procedure of stress load distribution evaluation and visualization, among the simultaneous contact teeth of a wormface gear drive with localized contact. The procedure is intended to be use for a preliminary and fast evaluation of the load stress prediction, based on magnitude and position of contact forces on teeth instantaneous contact flanks and, is illustrated here through a practical example.

THE STUDY OF FORCES AND EFFICIENCY IN
WORM-FACE GEAR DRIVE
This paper presents a study of forces and efficiency determination for
a particular worm-face gear drive in which the worm is of ZK1-type. The study
is strictly limited to formulas determination for axially, radially and separation
forces, as well as, for gear drive efficiency. These characteristics allow for
better gear drives design, as well as, for their performance improvement.

MATHEMATICAL MODEL AND CAD SIMULATION
OF THE HOB FOR MACHINING THE FACE GEAR
FROM THE WORM-FACE GEAR DRIVE
The paper presents a study related to mathematical modeling and
CAD simulation of the hobs used for machining the face gears teeth, from the
worm-face gear drives in which the worm is of ZK1-type. The study is limited to
determination of mathematical relations necessary for hobs design, as well as
for their CAD modeling. Some practical example results of 3D CAD models,
built on developed theory for hobs used in machining particular face gears, are
also presented.
