HIDROTHERMAL CARBONIZATION – A NEW METHOD
FOR WASTE WATER TREATEMENT PLANTS
SLUDGE EXPLOATATION
Sludge management is costly and energy consuming. In this paper it
is discussed the possibility of producing two types of fuels from the excess
sludge. One possibility is to transform it into bio ethanol from sludge and the
other is to use hydrothermal carbonization in order to produce a bio-coal.
Hydrothermal carbonization is a new technology that can use humid waste and
transform it into bio coal. It has low greenhouse gases emission because
almost the entire carbon is kept in the biomass.
