The Military Circle in Bucharest, October 2, 1998. According to Government Ordinance no. 39/1998 (as amended by GO no. 44/27 July 1998), on this date was held the General Assembly for the establishment of the Association of Standardization in Romania – ASRO, a legal entity of private law, with a legal status of a non-lucrative association, on the basis of Law no. 21/1924, the association comprising 106 founding members.
Through this institutional reform in national standardization, alignment with European norms has been achieved, transferring the responsibilities in the field to those who are the main beneficiaries of this activity.
