This paper presents measurement results of noise level emitted by a
lathe and effects of noise on health worker. It was noted that in some
circumstances the maximum allowable is exceeded which requires the use of
means of protection.

In industrial environments it is necessary to recognize, evaluation and
control of working places and working stations, as well as occupational groups
with exposure to noise. Therefore, this paper describe the noise effects on
hearing quality and an estimation method of noise – induced hearing
impairment. Using this method is made a comparative study of the noise
induced permanent threshold shift depending on the noise exposure level and
duration by various frequencies between 500 – 6000 Hz.
