ESTIMATING POLLUTANT CONCENTRATION USING SCREEN VIEW
Screen View is a program that uses Gaussian air dispersion model to estimate pollutants concentration at ground level. In function of pollutant source type, weather conditions and pollutant characteristics, is calculated the concentration (in μg/m3) vs. distance from source (in m).

QUANTITATIVE ANALYIS OF XPS PHOTOELECTRON SPECTRA

 

The paper addresses some issues regarding the influence of main factors on intensity of XPS peaks, namely photoionization cross-section and inelastic mean free path (IMFP). Also is described the XPS PeakFit software commonly used for quantitative determinations of XPS photoelectron spectra.

The paper presents a study on the native oxide film formed on steels surface by air exposure at ambient conditions and its cleaning. As in-situ thermochemical treatments require a clean and active surface, argon ion sputtering process is usually employed to eliminate this superficial oxide layer.

ABOUT THE DETERMINATION OF BUILDING MATERIALS’
THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY
The paper introduces an experimental method of determining the
thermal conductivity of building materials. The installation we have created is
based on the Fouriér law allows the determination of the thermal conductivity of
the building materials’ which the test bars are made of, and implicitly, theirs
identification. This method does not allow an observation of the variation of
thermal conductivity with respect to temperature for the material under question,
the result of the analysis being in fact a mean value of thermal conductivity.

DETERMINATION OF CONVECTIVE HEAT
TRANSFER COEFFCIENT
This paper describes how analytic and experimental method for
determining the heat convection coefficient for a cylindrical wall placed
horizontally and warmed on the inside. Analytical method consists in calculating
the criteria of similarity (invariants) describing the phenomenon of thermal
convection, and by experimental method taking into account heat transfer by
free convection and radiation between the wall and the environment.

22-48 DETERMINAREA CARACTERISTICILOR PRINCIPALE ALE UNEI INSTALAŢII FRIGORIFICE CU COMPRIMARE MECANICĂ

In the article is analyzed a vapour-compression refrigeration system
using R12 refrigerant. With experimental values of the evaporating and
condensing temperatures and using the Cool Pack program, the system
performance may be evaluated. Thermodynamic performance of a refrigeration
system is defined by evaluating the cooling efficiency, which permit the
quantitative assessment of heat losses, qualitatively described by the second
principle of thermodynamics.
