STUDY OF VIBRATIONS ON BRAKE DISK DEFORMATION DURING SUDDEN BRAKING BY USING CAD TOOLS

This paper is dedicated to those students who are in an early stage in the Noise Vibration Harshness (NVH) discipline. In this paper we study the effect of vibrations on the deformation of the rotor of a car brake disk in the event of sudden braking. Since the brake disk is often subjected to extreme conditions, in addition to vibration simulation, it has been decided that it is useful to carry out an additional study, namely a static one in which the pressure and force parameters are taken into account to see the potential deformations of the rotor. These parameters simulate the pressing of the brake pads on the surface of the rotor. The paper begins with the definition of basic terms, then presents a logical scheme of actions and finally illustrates the result of the simulations, as well as suggestions for the continuation of the study.

RESEARCH OF OPACITY AND CONSUMPTION AT DACIA SANDERO 1.5 DCI WITHOUT EGR

The study of pollutant emissions, especially of the Dacia Sandero 1.5 dCi passenger car at different operating regimes was developed by monitoring the fuel consumption. The introduction of the study is concerned about pollution, the environmental problem which is met every day. Pollution is about emitting in the surrounding environment chemical components which may lead to the structural imbalance between various life forms, which impacts health and comfort at all levels and causes ambient damage by altering natural and life sustaining factors. Different types of pollution do manifest continuously. First of all the air pollution from automobiles is the most important and analyzed in this study. In it is also considered the ecological design approach of most cars. Another section of the study makes a brief history of the internal combustion engines and their improvement process taking into account the pollutant emissions. Further in the study a comprehensive step is about the evolution of the chemical pollution. Last but not least is a description of the devices for measuring the pollutant emissions of cars. Another chapter enumerates and defines the filters, equipment and systems applied in engine development to meet increasingly stringent pollution standards. The study also contains the experimental part of the work. In this part is presented the measuring system used and then the results acquired from the Dacia Sandero 1.5 dCi engine, by monitoring the variation in the opacity of the exhaust smoke and the evolution of fuel consumption in different engine operating regimes. The last part of the study contains the final conclusions and proposed development perspectives.

RESEARCH OF OPACITY AND CONSUMPTION AT DACIA SANDERO 1.5 DCI WITHOUT AN INJECTOR

The study of opacity, in particular for Dacia Sandero 1.5 dCi compression ignited engine in two distinctive operating circumstances was developed by monitoring the exhaust emission and fuel flow with and without an injector failure. The first part of the research is focused on Sandero presentation and its relation with environmental pollution. The last improvements and optimizations of the car are conducted toward the increased performance and efficiency of the car’s operation. The opacity is one of the most important pollution aspects from compression ignited engines. Its effects on the environment are great and significant. It is also analyzed the ecological and dynamic design of the studied car. The present study makes a brief analyze of the available literature on the problem of emissions and consumption. The engine’s improvement and the optimization process should take into account the pollutant emissions and the real source. Last but not least there is a study of vehicle structure, of the common-rail injection system with specific devices for the pollutant emissions control on the investigated car. The paper also presents the applied or the practical part of the research work. In this part the most interesting aspect are the experimental data acquired during the practical measurements in operation, when it is managed the data package and the graphical representation of the results from Dacia Sandero 1.5 dCi engine. This was achieved by monitoring the variation of the exhaust opacity and the fuel consumption level in operating conditions. The study ends with conclusions, observations and predefined development directions.

STUDY OF THE VIBRATIONS IN ORDER TO HARVEST LOW-LEVEL ENERGY FROM ROADS Scientists have developed different technologies for generating electricity, but in most cases, this is achieved by using fossil fuels that can have a detrimental effect on human health and the whole ecosystem, which means global warming and changing climatic and biological balances. To avoid this, we must solve the reduction of the use of fossil fuels and find new methods of generating electricity similar to photovoltaic and wind technologies. Piezoelectric energy harvesting technology has significant advantages over other renewable energy sources such as solar or wind. Using the pressure of vehicles over the road caused by gravity, the method generates electric energy from the deformations of the paving. Although recent research projects have paid attention to this energy harvesting technology, only a few studies have been conducted on-site to determine its feasibility and economic competitiveness. No data are available about how this was realized. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a research framework that enables assessment of the technology of piezoelectric materials for this purpose.

In the third part there is presented a model of a side-by-side windshield, respective results obtained and the milling methods applied in the processing of this element.

This paper is a brief representation and interpretation of the specialized literature and international standards about the importance of vibrations action of a seat from road vehicle to the human body. The main subjects analyzed in this paper are the action the vibrations on the human body and the influence of the used material for the manufacturing a bicycle saddle on the vibration level. In order to manufacture a top-quality product a high level of knowledge of the bad effects of vibrations on the human body is required. By studying these aspects, we can obtain a part with an optimized structure both from a technical point of view, as well as from a medical point of view.

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel which can be used in place of diesel in compresion ignition engines either in pure form or by blending it with diesel fuel. Biodiesel is a renewable fuel that is produced from vegetable oils and fat tissues. One of advantage of biodiesel is its less pollution in comparison with diesel fuels. The purpose of this study is to realise an overview, from specialized literature, related to vibro-acoustic behaviour for diesel engine using conventional diesel, biodiesel and its blends. The main goal was to present the fuel with minimum sound and vibration level.

The article presents a comparative study of four radiator fans with different blade numbers. The four simulations were conducted at different speeds for each fan, in such a way, that the tonal noise caused by the blade passing frequency has the same value in each case. As a result, the discharged air flow rates of the four fans were analyzed and compared.

Biometric technology is gaining a significant role in presenting the solutions for many issues in various applications that demands person identification such as forensic science, security, finance affairs, border checking and government ministries and offices. It is defined as the technology of analyzing physiological and behavioral traits such as face, fingerprint, iris, retina, voice, and signature etc., for person identification and authorization. Nowadays, lots of research works are carrying out to accomplish biometric recognition systems based on various types of human traits. To provide a comprehensive survey, this paper presents an overview to five biometric traits (iris, fingerprints, face, voice and signature). The overview will cover the way of acquisition, application area, methods of implementation, strength/weakness, and system evaluation.

Over the past 150 years technology has advanced more than ever predicted history of technology. For example, 3D prototyping / printing has become a widely-appreciated and widely used phenomenon. This is a simple and fast manufacturing process, a technique that allows engineers to overcome certain design difficulties in just a few hours, compared to a few weeks that would take traditional methods. Through this technology, engineering sciences, design and technical research are undergoing transformation and the special materials industry will open up a huge fan of possibilities. With 3D technology, an idea goes directly from the design phase to the execution phase, escalating beyond the traditional stages of product manufacturing. The paper systemizes some of the major 3D printing technologies, presenting tabular, focusing on the advantages, disadvantages and application domains of these technologies. And in Romania, the prospect of expanding the home use of 3D printers open to prosumerators (users acting both as producers and consumers). The 3D equipment maker will create the right legal framework for the commercialization of 3D technology only compatible with the processing of non-hazardous materials. The 3D printer user will be granted access to a type of 3D technology limited by software specifically designed by manufacturers for civil use. And so with the advent of this technology, a new chapter in jurisprudence will soon be written in Romania. But until then, Romania is only taking the first steps in this area.

SUBLIMINAL PERCEPTION AND EXTERNAL FACTORS IN TV COMMERCIALS

       In this paper we examined the subliminal perception of exposure to TV commercials and identified which variables cause consumers to take the buying decision. We conducted an experiment that highlighted the fact that, besides the subliminal perception of advertisements, external factors have an important role. By the descriptive method we have highlighted the mechanisms that contribute to the positive perception of the brand. Novelty is precisely the extension of this concept of subliminal advertisements in the cognitive field, in the processing of information and in behavioral change as a result of exposure to TV commercials and external factors.

IMPROVING THE TIME-FREQUENCY READING OF THE SIGNALS USED TO DETERMINE THE DYNAMIC STIFFNESS COEFFICIENT

The objective of the paper is to describe and determine the Fourier transform to define a passage relation of a signal from the time domain to a frequency domain. The process allows the identification of frequencies but does not provide complete information about the behavior of the system, in the sense that it does not allow the interpretation of frequency evolution over time. For this reason, I propose the use of time-frequency analysis.

ASPECTS ON THE USE OF SOLAR ENERGY – Part I

Most human activities, the size, volume and quality of goods and services available to mankind are energy dependent, with energy playing a central role in human existence, being the most important resource. At present, fossil fuel carriers are the fuel of the world economy, and humanity is geared towards using abundant energy at a relatively low price. Alternative sources such as sun, wind, hydropower, wave energy, geothermal energy, bioenergy etc. it is practically not consumed, calling it renewable (alternative or unconventional sources). They produce far fewer emissions, reduce chemical, thermal, and radioactive pollution, and are available theoretically anywhere in the world. The sun is a real blessing, giving us in an hour – enough energy for all people to use it for one year. Every day, about 120,000 terawatts (TW) of electrical power is offered to us by the sun. That, while over a year, the world uses only 15 TW of energy. The paper analyzes some aspects regarding the use of solar energy: collectors, solar power stations, solar houses.

Most human activities, the size, volume and quality of goods and services available to mankind are energy dependent, with energy playing a central role in human existence, being the most important resource. At present, fossil fuel carriers are the fuel of the world economy, and humanity is geared towards using abundant energy at a relatively low price. Alternative sources such as sun, wind, hydropower, wave energy, geothermal energy, bioenergy etc. it is practically not consumed, calling it renewable (alternative or unconventional sources). They produce far fewer emissions, reduce chemical, thermal, and radioactive pollution, and are available theoretically anywhere in the world. The sun is a real blessing, giving us in an hour – enough energy for all people to use it for one year. Every day, about 120,000 terawatts (TW) of electrical power is offered to us by the sun. That, while over a year, the world uses only 15 TW of energy. The paper analyzes some aspects regarding the use of solar energy: collectors, solar power stations, solar houses.

The smoke and toxic gases released from a subway fire contain a number of harmful elements to the human body. Thus, long-term smoke exposure is the main cause of the large number of casualties in such an event. To protect the lives of people caught by a fire in the subway, it is necessary to use smoke evacuation systems. Thus, longitudinal mechanic ventilation systems can be used. During the use of these systems, the smoke movement inside the tunnel is characterized by phenomena such as backlayering, reverse flow or bifurcation flow.

ASPECTS OF FIRE SMOKE MOUVEMENT IN SUBWAY STATION

The development of computer applications in the field of fluid dynamics has led to increased numerical fire simulations in underground stations, tunnels or underground structures. From a constructive point of view, the subway stations are characterized by large openings, by which they enter sufficient amounts of air, which can, in the case of a fire, either to feed with oxygen combustion or to contribute to the evacuation of smoke. When a fire is held in a subway station, the amount of smoke emitted usually floods the subway station or the tunnel (depending on the place of the fire outbreak), including the evacuation routes of passengers. This leads to reduced visibility and can cause deaths from smoke intoxication. Thus, one of the main concerns is the protection of the escape stairs from the danger represented by the smoke emitted from the fire. On the other hand, it is essential that firefighters reach as close as possible to the fire outbreak and extinguish it.

DETERMINATION OF FLOW RATE AT LOW HEAD HYDRO POWER PLANTS FEATURE WITH KAPLAN TURBINES

In the paper there are presented some methods of determination of the flow rate measurements in low head hydro power plans are also presented with a series of field studies. The most commonly used method for determining the flow in convergent measurement sections is the multipoint velocity measurement with propeller type current meters. For flow rate evaluation integration of the difference between measured velocities and a known velocity distribution is recommended. One of the newest methods of flow determination in intakes is the acoustic scintillation method, a cross-correlation method. For accurate results the scintillation method must be installed downstream of trash racks. Another method that can also be adopted to measurements in low head, is method of acoustic transit measurement, but new procedures for determination weighing the individual path velocities have to be applied due to varying shape of the flow cross sections. At the end of the paper a comparative analysis is made between the methods for determining the flow rate in the convergent measuring sections

ABSTRACT
The paper analyzes the corrosion and deposition processes that occur as a result of the interaction between water and water distribution systems, the influence on the water quality and the reliability of the components, and the methods for controlling and reducing these phenomena. The experimental researches consisted in the application of a chemical method of corrosion control using a solution based on silicates and orthophosphates, completely water soluble and harmless for consumer. Research results have highlighted the fact that this method has significantly reduced corrosion and deposition, also ensuring the preservation of water quality during water transport via pipeline.

In Sibiu several new residential areas have been built in recent years. The public transport network must be developed to include the new neighbourhoods, as long as they have been built in areas that do not have available routes nearby. Such a neighbourhood is the Magnolia residence, built in a neighbouring area of Sibiu, with a single access road and no connection to the public transport network. The paper presents the studies made to design the new route, which in the meantime has been opened and proved to be effective for the inhabitants of the Magnolia area.

STUDY ON IMPROVING TRAFFIC PARAMETERS AT AN INTERSECTION IN THE CITY OF SIBIU
This paper presents different aspects that must be considered during the reconfiguration of agglomerated road junctions in Sibiu. In the first part road traffic data is highlighted along with tables with traffic speed on certain road sections. The study was made with focus on the following junctions: Milea, Semaforului, Rahovei and it analyzes the number of vehicles that cross this intersection, the traffic speed, the factors that have an influence over this feature and the measures that must be taken in order to have a continuous and lean traffic flow. The service level was determinates by calculating the road traffic capacity. The intersection was reconfigured by building an underground passage that will eliminate all collision points. Further, it was reconfigured by making a roundabout above the underground passage. The conclusions emerged from the traffic parameters calculations and how this particular junction should be reconfigured in order to reduce congestion.

The applied research work shows the significant aspects, instruments and technologies for analyze and reporting the formic acid emissions and few of the health effects. In the present paper are studied some aspects of a particular pollutant emission, namely the formic acid and its influence on environment. Formic acid is to be found in great amounts in the urban polluted environment, with exhaust gas emissions being considered the main source. The present paper underlines the importance of understanding each pollutant effect and multilevel correlations of influences. The aim of the study is to improve the life’s quality by developing and implementing control and reporting measures on air pollutants. This article presents the origins of formic acid in different areas. To have better air quality and more responsible people regarding the important measures that shall be taken for optimizing emission management, it is mandatory to show some reasonable arguments and methods regarding formic acid emissions control. It is very dangerous pollutant, because it has a great impact on health. The carcinogenic influence compared with other pollutants is amplified when is coupled with multiple components. The present study improves the knowledge in formic acid emissions management through technologies and impact on the environment. It is a global problem based on interdisciplinary instruments and technics.

Carbon footprint and automotive pollution are some important concerns in transportation field. Main objective of the present work is to propose, develop and implement the new complex method of computer aided measurement concerning carbon footprint in urban driving condition of a city car with instruments and equipment available at Technical University from Cluj-Napoca. Specific objectives consist in experimental research of fuel consumption and economy, determination of pollutant emissions from the motor vehicle and pointing out the method’s fundamentals at Technical University of Cluj-Napoca. A new method of advanced technological research was developed during this study. The junction of computer aided processing and fuel/chemical efficiency evaluation is pointed out during the paper development. There were also highlighted the economy and carbon footprint trend lines in each particular context.

The experimental research paper and development of the work shows the most important factors, methods and materials for the evaluation, analyze and presenting the carbon oxide emissions, concentrations and some of the potential effects. Thus in the present work are analyzed few aspects of a particular urban area that is studied with advanced methods regarding the carbon oxide emissions. This article presents the sources of carbon monoxide globally and particularly at county level, in Cluj. The best way is to eliminate the pollution completely, but this is to idealistic. So in order to improve the overall air quality and people awareness toward the important work that shall be done for optimizing modern life adapting health to the environment, present paper shows some aspects regarding CO emissions and concentrations. It is an important pollutant, so it has effects on health. The cumulative effect with other pollutants increases its negative influence, and requires compliance with established limits. The present research shows the importance of CO in pollution management through multiple effects on the living body. It is a public health problem worldwide that requires multidisciplinary solutions.
